Preface:
June the 12th of the year 2010.

Welcome to sonia adventurer,

It seems that you found the way to the forum and this wiki which means that you have a good chance of becoming one of the better players.
The aim of this wiki is to help people finding the answers on most of their questions. You won't be able to find anything about the quests, since I believe that people should find them out on their own.
Once you've find you way around sonia I'm sure you will enjoy it. In the start it may go a bit slow perhaps, but once the ball is rolling it will keep rolling.

Good luck with your adventures in the world of Sonia,

Plebb.

Miscellaneous:

Credits:
(h)oney aka One Shot: paladin guide and strawberry tip

Exp stages:
level 0-50 4x
level 50-75 3x
level 75+ 2x

Weaknesses and immunities
Monsters do not have weaknesses or immunities here. The only exception is the spider race which is immune to earth. Yes, this means you can even kill dragons and demons with fire spells.
Explosions deal fire damage and not physical damage in the world of sonia.

Soul points:
Making runes requires one soul point regardless the kind of rune you make. Soul points are also used for the so called soul spells. Unpromoted you can have 100 soul points, promoted 200 and druid ands sorcers with the 2nd promotion have even a maximum of 300 soul points and regenerate them faster.

Promotions:
As soon as you reached the required level for a promotion, level 20 for the first, level 100 for the second, you should buy the promotion.
Promotions do not only increase your regeneration, but also the hitpoints and mana you get every level. For more details see the website.

At level 20 you can do the 2cc quest which can be find in a hole in the south west of the city near the ladder to the boat. It may take up to 15 minutes and you will need some food. Druids and knights may want to have 200 soul and just killed a monster so they can use their soul spells to complete the quest faster.
When you are low on hp and mana, stay on a poison field to regenerate. There are no spells to cure poison, burning or electricity.

Important:
Before buying promotion you should buy premium (!buypremium) for 10k which you obtained with your lootbags. If you forgot this you should relog after you bought promotion to activate your promo.
If you didn't managed to get 10k for premium higher levels are often willing to borrow you some money for it.

Lootbags:
The best way to make money is by making a lootbag with the so called trash loot and sell it to the npc in the very west of depot.
You may want to buy a parcel in depot before going to a hunting place so you can parcel the lootbag to your depot (city name is Sonia). Almost all hunting grounds have a mailbox at the start.

Auction system:
When you want to buy better equipment, runes or something else you should check the auctions. Messaging players also works, but you should only do that after you checked the auctions first.
To use the auction system you will need some commands which can be find here together with an explanation.

Spells:
Your spell book is your best friend when it's going about spells. Paladins will use exevo spear a lot to make spears for training and their first hunt.
For an explanation of the custom spells I would refer you to here.

Locations of interest:

  • Trainers: north of temple
  • Food Store: north of temple, west of trainers (best food are strawberries, 2gp each, 100 of them are 1 oz and last for many hours).
  • Depot: west of temple
  • Magic store: south of depot
  • Furniture store: south of the magic store
  • Trash loot vendor: in the very west of depot
  • Insane merchant: can be accesed by the tp in the south east of depot.
  • General Store: north west of temple
  • Teleporter room: north east of temple; brings you to most hunting grounds.
  • Arcane Foundry: west of temple; watch out for the steel smiths when you are low level.
  • Arcane Loom: at the south gate of the city is a hole with a level 20 exp door, enter it and go to the highest floor.

Leveling Guide:
This guide will only tell you how to get a kick start. After that you should look to the hunting ground guide to see where you can level.

For all vocations:
Once you are level 20 you should buy promotion. If you haven't bought it yet you should buy premium (!buypremium) for 10k. After that you should do the 2 cc quest in the hole near the boat in the SW of the city. Take some food with you, rest on poison fields for mana and hp. Druids and knight may want to have full soul and just killed a creature to make full use of their soul spells.
If it's not your first char and you have enough money for promotions it's the best to log out at trainees after you killed them all and log in after 5-10 minutes. Once you are level 20 you should leave rook and buy promotion immediately.

Rook takes about 5 minutes only.

Knights
Go to trainers and skill there while reading the forum and website. Once you are done you have some nice skills and go hunt at the first floor of skeleton cove till level 25.
At level 25 you can buy a knight axe/spike sword/dragon hammer from the auction or in the general store for 3k.
You can now start hunting vampires in the vampire castle. This is the best place to get money and exp till you are level 75 for dragon lords. Fifty levels at vampires is boring, but meanwhile you can hunt other monsters for your crafted weapon.

If you have a vip key you should go demon at level ~100 for good exp and for the demon set items. When you don't have a vip key you may want to stay at dragon lords till level 100-120 and then head to undead dragons.

The best final exp place for knights is the vip balrog spawn.

Advice:
- A wolf tooth chain can be bought in the magical store and gives +2 skills, it's a cheap item and worth the money.
- Till elder vampires and harder creatures you have to heal yourself with exura so you don't need uhs.
- Once you start needing uhs you should be spamming exori hur as much as possible when hunting, it's just 10 mana. Exori hur is as good as, if not completely, based on skills, so make these high.
- The wave spell of several creatures can't be dodged by standing cross, but by others you can, so stay cross there.
- Knights are known for cavebotting, here it's illegal and will result in an permanent ip-ban or more likely to be hunted down. Don't cavebot Wink

Paladins:
The paladin guide has been brought to you by (h)oney aka One Shot.

Well, when you first start off at level 15 or 16 right when you come off of Rook. You should then sit down for a couple of minutes to make some spears and train your skills to about 75/70. You can make spears with the "exevo spear" spell. While training you should make some bolts/arrows (Whichever one you want because in the world of Sonia they have the same attack value).
Once you made about as much as you can carry (more than 200 preferably) go hunt on the first floor of the skeleton cove until level 25.
At level 25, you should go to cycs until level 35. At level 35 you should make piercing bolts or onyx arrows and hunt dragons until level 45 or 40. From level 40 you can hunt giant spiders until level 60-65 then go to dragon lords for 65-105. At about level 80 or 90 you can hunt some demons for fun but make sure you run them. At level 105 or 110, you can hunt undead dragons until level 200.

Advice:
-When training you distance skill, use "exori con" non stop because paladins advance in distance every blood hit not poof and every hit of exori con (5 hits total) helps with training.
-Make sure you run everything because that results in less uh or guh costs.

Sorcerers:
Go to minotaurs and level till level 15-25. When you went for level 15 make some backpacks of hmms at trainers while reading the forum/website. After this you go vampires till level 25 or when you run out of hmms.
Once you are level 25 you should make some backpacks of frost missiles. This will be your new attack rune and works on all creatures. The more runes you make the better.
It's better to make for example 10 backpacks of runes and then start hunting with your high m lvl than make 1 backpack of runes, hunt with low m lvl, make a new backpack, hunt again, make an other backpack, etc. The first way you can get more levels with the same amount of runes. You also kill the monsters faster so less chance on dying.

At level 70-80 you can start hunting dragon lords. You should do this with explosions or sds. Explosions are cheaper, but sds is faster exp and less risk. You also want to have some greater manarunes with you in case you have to trigger your magic shield.
If something goes wrong at dragon lords and you have to use your magic shield you still have our soul spell to finish off the dragon lord(s) fast.

When you are level 100-130, depending on your set and how much risk you want to take, you can start hunting undead dragons. For the first levels you might want to use magic shield so now together with sds.
At higher level you will use the magic shield less and less on undead dragons (yes, even not with a double undead dragon since you run them) and you might switch to explosions as well since they are much cheaper than sds and the higher your level the less difference there will be between the average damage of explosions and sds.

Advice
- As soon as you reach level 20 tenacity will be your new spell. It increase you maximum hp with 50% for one hour. Have this spell always on (it may not run out) except when afk training. This spell separates the sorcerers from the druids.
- Exura gran is often better than exura vita. You can heal 2.5 times with exura gran for the cost of 1 exura vita.
- Buy a crystal ring from the store as soon as you bought promotion and you got the money for it.
- When going to a new area you should be careful. It's even better to ask a higher level to show you a round so you know where the monsters spawns. This could save your life since you don't run into a double/triple dragon lord spawn for example.

Druids:
You may want to make an other vocations since druids are by far the hardest vocation and are extremely underpowered in solo hunting due their little hp.

Go to minotaurs and level till level 25. Once you are level 25 you should make some backpacks of earth missiles. This will be your new attack rune and works on all creatures, with exception of the spider race.

At level 80-100 you can start hunting dragon lords. You should do this with explosions or sds. Explosions are cheaper, but sds is faster exp and less risk. You also want to have some greater manarunes with you in case you have to trigger your magic shield. A magma set will be handy since it offers 24% magical protection against the fire spells.
If something goes wrong at dragon lords and you have to use your magic shield.
Soul spells can be used to keep your mana high enough.

When you are level 150-175, depending on your set and how much risk you want to take, you can start hunting undead dragons without magic shield most of the time.
Hunting them with magic shield is way too expensive.
You will deal a lot of damage with explosions already, so you don't have to use sds, but they will come in handy in case something goes wrong at undead dragons.

Advice
- A blocker with who you can use shared exp is required to level on stronger creatures.
When it's a knight you should sio him while you use earth missiles for very cheap hunting.
- With help of your soul spell you will get more mana than you use on healing. This can be used to make more runes or to use great energy beam on the monsters.
When it's a good blocker he can line up multiple creatures so you can kill for example 3 behemoths in 5 just seconds.
- Vigor will be handy at creatures like dragon lords for cheap healing.
- Druids sanctuary is useless.
- Stop playing druid and make a sorcerer if you want to be a mage.

Weapons and sets:

Mellee weapons:
Swords, axes and clubs are all equal in stats, so you can pick which one you like the most.
They also have all their advantages and disadvantages.
Sword: the severed head of tiamat for the final sword is very hard to get
Axe: Of the best one handed weapons the titanium axe is the easiest to get, the beholder eyes for the black axe of death is hard to get and you need 3 in stead of 2 demon horns to upgrade it to the titan weapon.
Club: skull staff is very easy to get, a level 60 quest gives the fury crusher, you need 3 instead of 1-2 gold nuggets for the titan weapon.

Paladin weapons:
The same goes for bolts and arrows as for the mellee weapons, the only things that's different are the sprites. The bows and crossbows are also equal and even drop from the same monsters, so one is not harder to get than the other.

Wands and rods:
Don't use them once you can one hit minotaurs, waste of mana. The best wand requires for example 25 mana for ~95 damage.
A frost/earth missile is 14 mana for each shot and deals some hundred damage.

Armour sets:
For paladins a crown set + golden boots is the best (15% physical protection, 3 distance, 20 haste), due the physical protection. When they are not solo and have a blocker a full golden set, with exception of the helmet which would be an elven skill helmet, and assassin starts would be the best (22 skills, +12% attack speed <not confirmed or this really works> and 20 haste.

For mages, with druids in particular, it's important to get a magma set before going dragon lords against not too high costs till you can afford better. This grant you 24% protection against all elements, so also all fire attacks of the dragon lord.

The set doesn't really matter for knights till they can start hunting dragon lords and better. They shouldn't buy set items, but hunt the dragon lords, demons and balrogs for better equipment despite the lose of money.

Best defensive set for knights:

  • Magic plate amulet
  • Dragon scale helmet
  • Dragon scale armor
  • Dragon scale legs
  • Dragon scale shield
  • Magic plate boots
Total bonus: 26% physical protection, 290 hp, 5 skills, 20 haste

Best offensive set with 1 hander:

  • Magic plate amulet
  • Magic plate helmet
  • Magic plate armor
  • Magic plate shield
  • Demon legs
  • Magic plate boots
Total bonus: 19% physical protection, 330 hp, 17 skills, 20 haste

Best offensive set with 2 hander:

  • Titan weapon
  • Magic plate amulet
  • Magic plate helmet
  • Magic plate armor
  • Demon legs
  • Magic plate boots
Total bonus: 19% physical protection, 250 hp, 13 skills, 20 haste

Best mage set:

  • Crystal necklace
  • Magma helmet
  • Spellbook of lost souls (a wand/rod or something else would also fit depending on the situation)
  • Volcanic fury robe
  • Energy shield
  • Ring of wishes
  • Magma legs
  • Lich brain
  • Volcanic fure boots
Total bonus: 36% elemental protection (fire is exception with 43), 750 mana, 26 magic levels, 6 mana per 5 seconds, 20 haste

Bosses and how to kill them:

The devourer:
- Immune to physical
- hits extremely hard in close combat
- moves very slow

Location:
In the hole next to temple, spawns once every 5-6 hours.

Tactic:
Just run circles around the stones while shooting runes or casting spells. When he's lured in the corridor, don't try killing him since it will often result in dead.

Can be soloed at level 20.

Xora the mad:
- Immune to magic

Location:
In the hole of the city south gate, spawns once every 5-6 hours.

Tactic:
Just attack it and keep an eye on your hp. Knights have it much easier in killing than paladins since the exori con doesn't deal damage.

Can be soloed at level 20.

Brutus the Mighty:
- close combat fighter
- summons behemoths
- has a mega exori (~400-600 damage)
- heals for 1000-1700
- is fast

Location:
At the other side of the cyclop mountain, spawns once every 24 hours.

Tactic:
Have a knight luring it to the bushes east of the stair. Throw a firebomb at the place Brutus will be staying after luring to avoid him making summons.
The blocker must be healed for about 1600 hp each turn. A hp pool 3k or more is recommended.

General visax
- close combat fighter
- summon 3 hydra's, 3 lizards templars, 3-4 lizard snakecharmers and 3-4 lizard sentinals
- deal a bit more damage than Brutus
- is fast
- spawns at a quite small area

Location:
On the south west hill of the lizard island, spawns once every 24 hours.

Tactic:
Have a knight luring it to the SW or SE corner. Have a healing of about 1600 at the blocker (who is full defensive with shield) and a firebomb at where Gneral Visax will be to avoid summoning. A mage, a sorcerer in particular, is handy to kill the summons quick.

Tiamat, lord of flames
- close combat fighter
- spawns with 1-2 dragon lords and 1-2 dragons
- summons multiple dragon lords and dragons
- is not as fast as Brutus and Visax, but outrunning him is hard
- deals a huge amount of damage

Location:
At the very north of the dragon mountain, spawns once every 24 hours.

Tactic:
A level 150+ knight is recommended. There's little time for throwing a firebomb. Stay cross to avoid the death wave. Having healing of 4k or more on the blocker is recommended since the combos can get very high, especially with dragon (lords) around.

Tips and tricks:

  • Strawberries are the best food on the server. They are 2 gp each in the food store, 100 of them weight just 1 oz and last longer than any other food.
  • It's advised to start hunting the items you need for the crafted weapons and titan weapon once you can hunt that creature without big lose.
  • As a knight you should keep all armour pieces and weapons for magical steel.
  • Mages should keep the 'magical' equipment they loot for the magical piece of cloths.
  • Once you start hunt dragon lords as a knight you might want to make a druid which bot uhs for you. You always have profit this way.
  • Druids can deal most damage of all in pvp once they got their Mire spamm going on.
Especially if the druid is upstairs in a not so big room he's extremely hard to kill since it's most likely you won't even make it to the druid.
  • When using exit at trainers you will keep logged in for several hours and attack the trainers as well. Very good for training.
  • Happy hour is from 41:00 - 42:00 stamina. Use it wise.
  • When regenerating soul for making runes at trainers do it by killing the minotaur mage and orc shaman at Xora the mad. When you do this every time you will loot soft boots and a crystal necklace in the end.
  • Don't make hmm, only for level 20-25 on vampires you could use them. Frost/earth missiles are cheaper in mana and soul.
  • Make sure you always have supplies for an unexpected double exp day or raid. Especially as mage you can get a lot of exp during raids by using gfbs.
  • Be nice to other players, sooner or later you will need them. You can't get the titan weapons without external help or you have to wait till you are level 200+ and still running a big risk when killing a titan.
  • Think twice before you kill someone, they may have a higher char and random pk isn't appreciated by all high levels.
  • Uhs from the shop are 50% more expensive than those from a friendly druid
  • Read the website and forum, almost everything can be find there
  • Be active in the community, it's the best feature of the server.
  • .....

Monster drop:

The library of the website doesn't contain all monster drops as it says. Beside that it even say that several items are dropped by monsters that don't drop them at all (Liches don't drop scroll of power and death ring for example).
This list is 100% correct since I looted everything that's written down myself. Since the list only contains what I've looted or which must be true (the entire dragon scale set is dropped by dragon lords of course) it's not complete.
Orc leaders and warlords, necromancers, banshees, braindeaths, heroes, black knights and the bosses are not complete.

Very impressive Plebbs! I didn't read all of it yet but from what i read so far its well written making it easy to read. It pretty much answers all the questions a new player would have. A place where i can always tell people to go if they ever need anything.
